Sales Manager Role
We are currently seeking an organized and engaging Catering Sales Manager with proven experience in hotelsales or catering to join our team at the Bloomington-Normal Marriott Hotel & Conference Center. This critical role is focused on driving catering revenue proactively soliciting new business and maximizing revenue from existing corporate and preferred accounts. The Catering Sales Manager will play a key part in up-selling opportunities meeting personal and team revenue targets and ensuring seamless service delivery for our guests.
As a Catering Sales Manager youll be responsible for building strong customer relationships and inspiring guest loyalty by consistently delivering service excellence. This role is ideal for a results-oriented professional with a track record of achieving sales goals who thrives in a team environment and is committed to learning and leading by example. Professionalism creativity and a dedication to problem-solving are essential.
Responsibilities
Generate catering revenue consistent with the propertys business plan.
Detail and service all groups personally booked.
Achieve personal and hotel revenue goals.
Prospect for new business using a wide variety of methods including phone calls outside sales callscommunity functions internet prospecting supplier partnerships trade journals etc.
Develop implement and update catering sales action plans.
Interact effectively with vendors competitors local community catering associations and other hoteldepartments (including Sales Kitchen and Operations) to ensure guest satisfaction.
Align catering service and client specifications to achieve high guest satisfaction and return on investment.
Manage contract minimums and coordinate the collection of attrition and cancellation fees.
Provide accurate revenue and expense forecasts according to established guidelines.
All other work as required to complete the primary purpose of the position.
Qualifications
Minimum two (2) years of Catering Salesexperience or two (2) years in hotel EventServices Banquet Group Sales or anequivalent combination of education andexperience.
High school diploma or equivalent
Proficient in Microsoft Office Tools
Less than 20% travel requirement.Must possess a valid drivers license andreliable transportation and the ability to beavailable at off property meetings andevents with minimal notice
Up to 8 hours sitting at a desk andcomputer work
Excellent written and oral communicationskills.
Prior experience with the Group and/orSocial Event market segments is preferred
Preferred to have a Bachelors degree in BusinessAdministration Marketing Hotel andRestaurant Management or related major
Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) is a plus
Demonstrated experience with industryspecific sales and catering programsincluding Microsoft Officeand/or CI/TY particularly in detailingBanquet Event Orders (BEOs)
