The Employee Health Service Nurse uses critical thinking skills professional judgment and leadership to anticipate plan direct and evaluate the care of the patients provided by a team of ancillary personnel and assumes leadership responsibility as needed for a specific patient care area.
These duties are to be performed in a highly confidential manner in accordance with the mission values and behaviors of Insight Hospital and Medical Center. Employees are further expected to provide a high quality of care service and kindness toward all patients staff physicians volunteers and guests.
Uses the nursing process critical thinking skills professional judgment and the attributes of Careful Nursing to provide care for the patient population in an ambulatory setting:
Assesses patient needs to determine care requirements.
Included in the patient assessment are the history vitals and any other pertinent tasks to allow the physician to complete the physical exam.
Knowledgeable administers prescribed medications and immunizations as ordered by the treating physician/practitioner.
Plans care and delegates tasks to ancillary personnel based on patient assessment.
Evaluates patient response to care provided and makes changes in plan for care as needed.
Promotes patient/family independence through provision of education related to patients condition treatment medications and ongoing self-care requirements.
Performs clinical diagnostic testing and procedures that are pertinent to the provision of care as directed by the physician/practitioners. May include but not limited to EKGs PFTs audiograms drug testing venipuncture and B.A.T.s.
Discusses patient progress problems and needs with physician company representative case manager and multidisciplinary team members on a regular basis to ensure that goals are achieved for the episodic event.
Ensures high levels of quality of care through compliance with regulatory standards reference to current research related to patient care outcome and participation in the data collection and analysis process of ongoing quality monitoring. References OSHA and NIOSH (National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health) standards and applies them to the practice of Occupational Health.
Uses supplies in a cost effective and efficient manner and works with the management team to make unit supply level adjustments additions and revisions

Understands and complies with confidentiality and privacy requirements in the care of patients in accordance with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) guidelines.
Assumes responsibility for personal growth and development by attending offered in-services as well as staff and departmental meetings.
Maintains awareness of hospital changes by reading posted notices attachments to paychecks and weekly editions of the Spirit as well as attending scheduled staff meetings and hospital town hall meetings.
Assists in answering telephones taking messages and directing them to the appropriate parties.
Assist in basic clerical functions as needed i.e. registration call backs etc. to ensure the provision of efficient and effective medical care.
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.
Current RN License in the State of Illinois required.
Two to three years of experience in a clinic or Emergency Room setting preferred.
Experience in Occupational or Industrial Medicine preferred.
One month on-the-job training required.
Excellent customer service skills required. Proficient in Microsoft Office Word Excel and Outlook preferred.
Strong customer service skills with a proven track record of demonstrating solid customer service required.
Ability to quickly recognize changes in condition and needs of patients.
Ability to relate well to patients required.
Demonstrates a caring attitude required.
Knowledge of patients growth and development needs required.
Willingness to increase knowledge and skills required.
Ability to cooperate effectively with others a team player required.
Ability to communicate with others in a clear calm and timely manner.
May be called upon to provide staffing coverage at other InsightWorks satellite facilities required.
