THE RECRUITMENT RANGE FOR THIS POSITION IS LIMITED TO $39671 - $53560. Salary offers for the selected candidate are based on the candidates education and experience related to the position as well as our agency budget and equity.
Some travel including some overnight stays are required.

Department Information:
The North Carolina Department of Justice led by the Attorney General of North Carolina represents the state state agencies and elected officials and defends the rights of the people of North Carolina. The Department handles all state criminal appeals cases and assists district attorneys with complex criminal cases at their request. Additionally the Department of Justice includes the North Carolina State Crime Lab the North Carolina Justice Academy and the Sheriffs and Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Divisions.
Division Information:
State Crime Laboratory -- Helping Solve Crimes
The State Crime Laboratory of the Department of Justice maintains a full-service forensic science laboratory to assist all law enforcement agencies in North Carolina in the investigation of criminal matters. The Laboratorys mission is to provide state-of-the-art forensic services in the areas of drug analysis blood alcohol/drug content firearms latent prints footwear and tire tracks forensic biology computer forensics and trace evidence. The services are provided from a central laboratory in Raleigh N.C. and regional laboratories located in Edneyville N.C. and Greensboro N.C.
This position is located at the State Crime Lab in Raleigh NC.This section is responsible for the purchasing of all commodities of supplies and services used by the NCSCL to sustain daily operations.
This includes but is not limited to:
preparing requisitions and purchase orders for acquisition of goods and services using the North Carolina E-Procurement System
reviewing requisitions determining the appropriate acquisition procedure (order against existing state term contract quote bid forward to State Purchase and Contract) based on the nature of the requisitioned item(s) and dollar amounts as authorized by State law contacting vendors for price quotes
examining formal bids submitted by vendors to evaluate specifications and costand assisting in recommending a final contract award.Note to Current State Employees:

General knowledge of large-scale purchasing methods and procedures.
Ability to acquire knowledge of the various grades and qualities of materials and commodities being purchased.
Working knowledge of the North Carolina E-Procurement System Interactive Purchasing System and North Carolina Accounting System.
Ability to: Apply and interpret established rules and regulations; maintain records of some complexity and to prepare reports on tabulations from these records; establish and maintain effective working relationships with departmental personnel manufacturers representatives and State Purchase and Contract employees.
Ability to use various types of Microsoft Office computer software

Credit for foreign degrees will only be given if verification of degree certification is attached to your application. Transcripts for foreign degrees have to be evaluated by an organization like World Education Services to determine US equivalency.
