Job Description

Volunteer Assistant Football Coach / Residential Life Housing Supervisor

The Volunteer Assistant Football Coach/Housing Supervisor position is a full-time 10-month position responsible for assisting in the development of student athletes on the field in the classroom on campus and in the community. This position will also assist in the development organization supervision and management of the football program. As a Residential Life Housing Supervisor the incumbent will reside in a residential hall on campus and will be responsible for the direct leadership management and supervision of a designated residence hall program in an on-call Duty Rotation.
This is a non-paid position with free Residential Life Housing and Meal plan provided.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associates degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning required Bachelors preferred.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with a diverse student population.
  • Ability to perform work beyond a standard 40-hour work week when workload requires.
  • Must have and maintain a valid drivers license and meet ICCs driving standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Coaching experience at the Collegiate level.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated experience with NJCAA and conference rules and regulations.
Essential Duties:
Coaching:
  • Recruit quality student-athletes and ensure timely submission of their academic records.
  • Participate in recruitment and designation of scholarship athletes.
  • Plan coaching and practice sessions in accordance with NJCAA and Conference regulations.
  • Demonstrate game techniques and coach team members individually and in groups.
  • Develop and recommend game strategy and position assignments.
  • Monitor the purchase of uniforms equipment and supplies.
  • Participate in the selection and fitting of team equipment.
  • Promote the athletic program through community events public speaking and fundraising events.
  • Monitor academic progress of student athletes and implement action plans when needed.
  • Monitor and maintain discipline and conduct of student athletes.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Head Football Coach Athletic Director or Student Life Administrator.
Residential Life Supervisor:
  • Participate in On-Call Duty Rotation.
  • Communicate with college and housing personnel.
  • Submit reports and other documentation in a timely fashion.
  • Report violations of Housing Rules and Student Code of Conduct timely.
  • Report parking violations such as parking in the Accessible lot or in a Fire Lane.
  • Attend all Housing meetings.
  • Participate and assist with Room checks.
  • Support the resolution of roommate conflicts.
  • Assist students with lockouts.
  • Perform Fire Alarm functions when necessary.
  • Assist in evacuation procedures during an emergency.
  • Performs any other duties as assigned or requested by Student Affairs Administrator.
General:
  • Can Model the Way for student athletes at ICC.
  • Ensures the safeguarding of all confidentiality of student records and files.
  • Attends and participates in all required training.
  • Supports the Colleges mission core values and goals.
  • Contributes to a work environment that encourages knowledge of respect for and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
  • Maintains a positive professional attitude and work environment.
  • Drive a college vehicle to the Airport and certain local destinations as needed.
This position requires work and travel outside of Monday-Friday including evenings nights and weekends.

Independence Community College (ICC)is a two-year educational institution accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. It was established in 1925 as grades 13 and 14 of the Independencepublic school system. In 1967 Independence Community College legally separated from the school district. Construction of the new community college on a 68 acre campus formerly the Independence Country Club began in 1969. Classes at the new site began in September 1970. ICC campus is now home to the Academic Building Fine Arts Building Student Union Cessna Learning Center Field House Administration BuildingWilliam Inge Center for the Artsfitness center athletic practice fields disc golf course 96-bed multi-structure living complex and a 200 bedresidence hall.

By renovating a donated building in 2010 we expanded our college to include ICC West (2615 West Main Street). This campus is located on the west side of Independence and is home to our technical programs: Allied Health Cosmetology and GED/ renovations were completed in 2012 to accomodate our newest program Veterinary Technology. This state-of-the-art facility includes animal wards a classroom lab surgery pharmacy prep roomsmall animal treatment food prep grooming and radiology.

ICC also maintains presence downtown through the ICC Foundation office and by partnering with the Independence Business Resource Center.

Currently our educational and support programming includes 35programs of studyfor Associates of Arts and/or Science degrees 11programs of study for Certificate completionStudent Support ServicesUpward Bound mens and womens athletic programs and a variety ofcampus organizations and activities.
