Were on the hunt for our next Senior Vice President (SVP) of Workforce Development. This is a unique opportunity to join our team to strategize align inspire and manage a growing portfolio of workforce development programs. As a leader who knows how to lead at the right level this individual will support the Executive Vice President (EVP) of Mission Services to work with diverse populations of unemployed and underemployed adults and youth those on TANF non-custodial parents and veterans. You are not afraid to sell and close with employers and get funders excited to join our work. With a focus on serving our communities with job training job skill development and sector-based employer focused approaches GWNYNJ has a vision of empowering individuals with disabilities and other barriers to employment to gain independence through the power of work.
The Awesome Things Youll Do
Program Oversight
- Oversee manage and direct all workforce development programs and operations within the Mission division.
- Monitor program outcomes effectiveness and service outcomes by using a data-driven approach to assure contract compliance and funding source goals and objectives are met.
- Supervise staff ensure appropriate staff conduct and execution of duties resolve personnel issues and ensure regular staff performance reviews and evaluations
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory accreditation entities; develop comprehensive policies and procedures to support best practices.
- Drive continuous quality improvement initiatives and structure for Workforce division including identifying KPIs and preparing internal/external reporting.
- Provide fiscal oversight to division including development of yearly budgets and monitoring on an on-going basis.
- Review and monitor monthly financial reports and course correct as needed
Employer Engagement & Relationship Management
- Drive employer relationships within key sectors healthcare non-profits admin building operations technology creating trust through delivering great talent quickly and effectively for hiring managers. Making each employer feel connected to Goodwill and satisfied with our workforce.
- Build community partnerships develop win-win partnerships with community-based organizations educational institutions municipal county and state institutionsthat fund Goodwill or other workforce and educational programs.
- Create ideas and innovations with funders regarding workforce development creative on how to move barriers for unemployed folks to get into the training and supports needed to make a great match.
- Direct community relations and marketing to drive clients to come to Goodwill as a place that connects them to the power of work with respect.
Program Development
- Oversee the development and management of sector-based training initiatives including the development and oversight of Mission-wide occupational and skill-based training programming.
- Secure funding for programs through government foundations and private dollars; review and vet RFPs for new programs based on agency mission and funding availability; design new programs prepare proposals and assist in negotiating contracts
- Use data as decision making tool to drive quality improvement inform funders and create new program models. sector focused population specifics and delivery (i.e.: bridge learn and earn etc.)
- Maintain and cultivate new relationships with funding sources for continued success and to advocate for services and additional funding
Team & Culture
- Foster and promote the organizations mission goals and objectives
- Develop and strengthen leadership skills in staff through trainings both internal and external one on one supervision and delegation
- Play a leadership role in team meetings and drive a team approach; work collaboratively with other departments/divisions to break down silos and generate cross-divisional approaches to practice to ensure performance improvement.
- Lead talent management and development programs in partnership with the People & Culture team. Ensure the right talent is ready at the right time with the right skills to support program transition and growth.
The Experiences Skills and Perspectives Youll Bring
- Ten plus years of progressive supervisory experience working with a wide array of employment and social service programs in a not-for-profit or public sector organization.
- Excellent written and oral skills. Experience with program design development and implementation and problem solving. Must have strong analytical management and financial skills. You know the difference between a lead measure and a lag measure.
- Experience with sector-focused training programs you know one sector (ex: healthcare) and all the key employers in it.
- In-depth knowledge of a variety of services and funding streams for services for economically disadvantaged and employment related services. Know the big programs: WIOA TANF and the trends in workforce development.
- Ability to multi-task and adapt to a wide variety of demands and standards from numerous funding sources.
