JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
The mission of the Data Learning Center of the University Libraries is to inspire intellectual discovery by providing services to help users transform data into information. These services include individual consultations small group training and online tools for students and PSU researchers in areas such as data statistics and research methodology.
This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience by supporting real-world research projects. The Statistical Consultant will work closely with the Statistician to provide one-on-one consultations with PSU researchers assisting with study design data analysis and statistical software. The consultant will also contribute to the development of instructional materials workshops and online learning resources.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide support during statistical consultations including data preparation statistical analysis and interpretation of results
Assist users with statistical software and tools
Help develop training materials guides and online resources
Participate in the design and delivery of workshops
Contribute to other Data Learning Center initiatives as needed
Qualifications:
Required
Senior in good academic standing or recent graduate in Applied Statistics Data Science or a related field
Strong knowledge of basic statistical procedures and concepts
Familiarity with intermediate or advanced statistical methods
Experience with at least one of the following: R SPSS SAS Python Stata or Minitab
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel Word and PowerPoint
Excellent communication and time management skills
Interest in learning new statistical tools and qualitative methods
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Preferred:
Experience with additional software/tools such as LaTeX SQL Access NVivo MPlus AMOS or LISREL
Prior experience in teaching tutoring or leading workshops especially related to statistics or data analysis.
