Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for developing the production schedule for the Fremont facility to satisfy customer demand with respect to plant productivity. Strong collaboration and communication with the plant operations customers and demand planning is essential. As Supply Chain Manager you will be responsible for coordinating planning and scheduling products throughout the production process ensuring that all processes and schedules set by the Company are followed to attain the greatest efficiency. You will develop and maintain accurate and achievable production schedules consistent with the available capacity and in support of on-time delivery of customer orders. Working from material requirements data and inventory records prepares and places purchase orders to obtain the correct quantity and quality of raw materials semi-finished parts and completed components to meet manufacturing and customer service requirements. Ensures that costs and delivery charges for materials purchased are the best possible and that materials are available as scheduled.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to):

  • Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following.
  • Monitor and track production performance metrics capacity utilization and adherence to schedule targets.Develop and maintain the master production schedule for the facility to align with customer demand inventory targets and production capacity constraints. Adjust the master schedule as needed to accommodate changes in customer demand or production limitations. Continuously strive to improve the efficiency of the scheduling process.
  • Communication: Facilitate clear communication regarding schedule changes and updates both internally and with external partners. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing sales procurement and logistics to coordinate production activities and optimize resource utilization.
  • Utilizes EPICOR ERP system to run daily reports understanding and utilization of Kanban to determine raw materials and purchased parts as needed. Serve as main contact for vendors and provide any support needed to vendors. Provides forecast to vendors on a timely basis. Prepares and places Purchase Orders in accordance with lean principles and Company policy.
  • Reviews documents associated with incoming materials and issued Purchase Orders to ensure that the correct item(s) quality quantity price and delivery charges are received contacting vendors to correct any discrepancies. Investigate invoices for payment if needed by accounting.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts by participating in cross-functional teams and implementing best practices in production planning and capacity management.
  • Maintain accurate supply plans in the system of record and Review and manage key master data and supply chain parameters in ERP system (EPICOR).
  • Work closely with Operations Manager to identify and qualify new vendors. Send request for quotes to vendors to obtain competitive price quotes with related specifications and lead times on new materials to be purchased.
  • Provides research telephone and clerical assistance to the Operations Manager and others to complete vendor qualifications vendor consolidation and vendor manage inventory initiatives to accomplish physical inventories to ensure competitive material costs to achieve desired inventory turns and to stimulate continuous improvement.
  • Always maintains the confidentiality of proprietary customer and Company designs materials methods processes costs and other critical information. At all times conducts Oilgear business in an ethical proper and safe manner.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelors degree in operations management Supply Chain or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum 4 years proven experience in production scheduling within a Lean Manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and methodologies.
  • Proficiency in production scheduling software and ERP systems.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) and/or Certified Production Inventory Manager (CPIM) is a plus.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Work is typically performed in an office work environment.
  • Occasional travel will be required to support the individuals specific area of responsibility.
  • Physical effort is minimal however may be required in certain situations.
