Job Description

Overview

Tthe Recreational Therapy Assistant is responsible for assisting in implementing a recreational therapy program for children seen at the Center for Child and Family Traumatic Stress (CCFTS). This position requires the incumbent to be bilingual in English and Spanish with a proficiency level that meets the Institutes minimum standards.

**Candidates who are Bilingual in Spanish are preferred.**

Responsibilities

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  1. Develop and assist in implementing play activities in the community room to give the children acceptable outlets for their emotions and assist children and their families in adjusting to the center environment.
  2. Monitor children as they arrive. Provide an environment that is safe stimulating and child oriented.
  3. Assist in providing clients with structural opportunities for social interaction with peers and adults as well as opportunities to develop their leisure and recreational interests and skills.
  4. Assist children in developing and maintaining a positive and healthy attitude about themselves as individuals.
  5. Maintain a clean and organized play area including routine scheduled toy washing in accordance with infection control standards.
  6. Communicate information with the other staff as needed.
  7. Responsible for following all procedures related to working in the Center for Child and Family Traumatic Stress community room.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish with a proficiency level that meets the Institutes minimum standards - Intermediate High for Administrative Support Staff. Able to speak Spanish fluently with ease and confidence in a variety of topics related to work home leisure activities as well as events of current public or personal interest or individual relevance. Able to convey intended message with accuracy clarity and precision without misrepresentation or confusion while being readily understood by native speakers.

EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associates degree in therapeutic recreation preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous experience working with families and children affected by abuse and neglect is strongly preferred.

USD $37132.78/Yr.

Maximum pay range

USD $60215.17/Yr.
