Job Description
Reports To: Network Engineering Manager
Duty Days: 238 Days
Wage/Hour Status: Exempt
Pay Grade: B05
Date Revised: 6-2025
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience preferred
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Wireless required
Working towards Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
Minimum 3 years work experience in network infrastructure design implementation and management
Strong knowledge of all network protocols and routing standards
Strong knowledge of Cisco Wireless Solutions BYOD strategies and technologies
Strong knowledge of network capacity planning network security principles and general network management best practices
Ability to review construction plans for new build/re-models and provide technology input as it relates to cabling infrastructure
Primary Purpose:
Assist in the management design and implementation of an enterprise level Wi-Fi solutions routing and switching infrastructure to ensure high-availability security and functionality.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- The configuration installation and maintenance of Wireless network infrastructure.
- Provide technical direction in network related tasks to network engineers.
- The installation and maintenance of hardware and software in support of wireless controllers access points switches routers and equipment racks.
- Change Control management documentation and tracking
- Occasional installation termination and testing of data cabling
- Troubleshooting network outages
- Troubleshooting network hardware
- General housekeeping and maintenance of assigned network areas
- Produce effective verbal and written communications with vendors and IT staff
- Participate in the training and advancement of Jr. network support staff
- Transportation of network hardware to and from designated locations
- Project Management of network projects and tasks assigned
Equipment Used:
Laptop computer general hand tools network test equipment network monitoring equipment digital voltmeters and ladders.
Working Conditions:
Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent districtwide travel working off of ladders lifting of heavy equipment (50 lbs). On occasion working prolonged hours including weekends and Holidays to facilitate repair and upgrade of campus infrastructure as needed. Will use small hand tools related to completing assigned duties.
