Job Description

The program coordinator will play a key role in overseeing the STRIVE program which supports college-aged students with intellectual disabilities. STRIVE stands for Success Through Resiliency Inclusion and Vocational Education. This position is responsible for student-centered planning curriculum development community engagement and overall program administration to ensure student success and long-term sustainability of the program.

This is a grant funded position through the STRIVE grant. There is no guarantee for continued employment beyond the grant period which concludes on June 1st 2026.

Major Responsibilities:

Student Support

  • Oversee student-centered planning admissions and advising processes.
  • Support peer mentoring internships and work-based learning opportunities for students with IDD.
  • Serve as a communication bridge between STRIVE students and faculty.
  • Modify courses as needed for students auditing classes.
  • Manage daily program activities and provide supervision and guidance to students and peer mentors.
  • Conduct student-centered planning in collaboration with each students support team (including waiver services if applicable).

Curriculum Development

  • Modify design and implement curriculum aligned with students independent living skills and career goals.
  • Ensure curriculum adheres to federal guidelines for inclusive postsecondary education.
  • Evaluate program outcomes regularly and make improvements based on data and student needs.

Community Outreach & Recruitment

  • Lead student recruitment initiatives and build a strong community presence.
  • Engage in advocacy efforts promoting educational equity for students with disabilities.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local employers to create meaningful competitive employment opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) and Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) counselors.

Program Administration

  • Collaborate with the Director of Disability Support Services to write and submit the Certified Transition Program application to the Federal Financial Aid Office.
  • Recruit hire and train work-study students and interns to support program operations.
  • Collect analyze and report program data.
  • Stay current with and synthesize relevant research and literature in the field of inclusive postsecondary education (IPSE).

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Special Education Rehabilitation Counseling Disability Studies or a related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience working with students with intellectual disabilities.
  • Proven ability to manage complex tasks and follow through to completion.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for diverse audiences including families faculty employers and agency partners.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and with patience in a team environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and familiar with Canvas Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Demonstrated commitment to supporting students with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Preferred:

  • Masters degree in Special Education Rehabilitation Counseling Disability Studies or a related field.
  • Experience writing grant applications or program certification materials.

Other Requirements:

  • Transcripts and/or relevant certifications/licenses required at time of hire
  • Offers of employment are contingent upon completion of a satisfactory background check
