Job Summary
The Payroll Specialist will manage and execute comprehensive payroll operations for our organization. This will include ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees while maintaining compliance with federal state and local regulations. The role requires strong attention to detail excellent analytical skills and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion. The Payroll Specialist will serve as a key resource for payroll-related inquiries and contribute to continuous process improvements.
Duties and Responsibilities
Process bi-weekly and various other payroll runs for multiple employee groups ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Calculate and process various pay types including regular wages overtime bonuses fringes and other special payments.
Maintain and update employee payroll records ensuring proper approvals are obtained for each.
Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies collaborating with others within and outside of HR.
Process garnishments child support orders and other court-ordered deductions in compliance with legal requirements.
Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay deductions tax withholdings payroll and other company policies.
Conduct an array of payroll audits and implement corrective actions to ensure data integrity accuracy and compliance.
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive payroll and employee information at all times.
Stay current with changing payroll laws regulations and best practices to ensure ongoing compliance.

Skills and Competencies
Comprehensive knowledge of federal state and local payroll tax laws and regulations.
Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in one or more HRIS and/or payroll software systems (ADP Workday or similar).
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel including formulas pivot tables and data analysis functions.
Strong math analytical and critical thinking skills with excellent attention to detail.
Knowledge of employment law wage and hour regulations and related compliance requirements.

Required Qualifications
High school diploma (or GED).
Minimum of five (5) years of related experience.
Strong broad working knowledge of best practices laws and regulations around core Payroll processes.
Strong working knowledge of Excel.
An acceptable pre-employment background and drug test.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with multi-site multi-state payroll processing and associated payroll tax and other compliance issues
Previous experience with Workday
Degree from an accredited college or university in Business Accounting or a related degree field
Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Requires prolonged sitting some bending and stooping.
Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
