Overview

In our Critical Access Hospital you will be exposed to the emergency department acute care (Med/Surg) swing bed surgery outpatient treatment and so much more! Responsibilities

As an ICU Nurse at CHI Williston Health now part of CommonSpirit Health formed between Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) and Dignity Health youll monitor patients who are critically ill and unstable following extensive injury surgery or life-threatening disease.

Each shift begins with a patient report from a nursing teammate before making your rounds. Youll continue to provide whatever care or procedures are required throughout the shift. This could mean assisting a physician with a chest tube or central line providing wound care transporting the patient for an MRI or CT or administering medications.

To thrive in this role youll heavily depend on your ability to multitask and react. Youll clinically care for your patients remain focused and attentive and advocate for their best interests. It is your sound judgment during an emergency and rapid response that puts you on the radar for advancement.

  • Assesses plans and implements nursing care while ensuring patient comfort
  • Anticipates identifies and responds to informational and emotional needs of patients and families
  • Guides and directs healthcare personnel (i.e. Patient Care Technicians) in caring for patients
  • Maintains knowledge of equipment setup maintenance and use (i.e. IV pumps monitoring equipment and drainage devices) Utilizes safeguards such as IV pump drug library and monitor alarms with necessary
  • Initiates emergency support measures (i.e. cardiopulmonary resuscitation protecting patient from injury)
  • Assists with patient care duties/tasks (i.e. emptying drainage devices ambulating and hygiene)

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Associates Degree in Nursing Required.

Licensure and Certifications

  • Registered Nurse: North Dakota (RN:ND) Required Upon Hire.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support - CPR (BLS-CPR) Required Upon Hire.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Required within 6 months of start.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Required within 6 months of start.
