A bachelors degree in finance accounting business administration public administration economics or a related field
Experience in loan servicing financial program administration grant or loan compliance or data tracking and reporting in a government nonprofit or financial institution setting
Alternate combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis
It would pique our interest if you had experience working with economic development organizations or public-private financing programs and a strong aptitude for spreadsheets databases and interpreting financial data for policy or program use
Competencies:
Knowledge of:
- Public and private finance principles including business lending loan servicing practices debt structuring and the fundamentals risk assessment
- Program management and compliance frameworks including how to evaluate partner performance monitor contractual obligations and align with federal state or international reporting requirements
- Data analysis and performance reporting including the ability to track financial and programmatic metrics manage complex spreadsheets or loan tracking systems and translate findings into actionable insights for diverse audiences
Ability to:
- Conducting research and analysis to develop knowledge of issues involved in planning funding and managing projects eligible for Loan Program funding and to provide information for reports presentations or special projects.
- Performing research to develop recommended policies procedures and systems to implement new revolving loan programs. This includes evaluating state regulations customer needs agency business processes and intended outcomes to recommend and implement policies and procedures.

About this Position
Business MTs goal is to be the lead business development division for the State of Montana by supporting business growth and the prosperity of Montana communities. Our mission is to retain expand and attract businesses that provide an economic impact for Montana communities through public/private partnerships leveraged funding and support of economic opportunities for Montana businesses and entrepreneurs. The Business MT Division administers programs that provide technical assistance (finance marketing export planning) and financial assistance (grants and loans) to Montanas businesses with specific emphasis on projects that have business development growth of revenue and job creation opportunities.
This position supports the Divisions business finance programs by managing loan servicing ensuring data integrity and monitoring performance across multiple programs including the Automation Loan Participation Program and the Opportunities in Rural Economies (ORE) suite. The role is ideal for a detail-oriented individual who enjoys working with data supporting program compliance and collaborating across teams to drive economic impact in Montanas communities.
