This position will offer a qualified candidate the opportunity to work in Raytheons Materials and Process Engineering (M&PE) Department servicing all of Raytheon with innovative solutions to nonstandard problems. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work in M&PEs world class lab performing hands-on-testing of elastomers vital to the success of our products.
What You Will Do
Test a wide array of elastomers and gaskets for compliance to drawings specifications and program application.
Work in a wet lab observing all safety procedures and common lab protocols.
Write scientific reports using generated data to support technical dispositions.
What You Will Learn
How to perform material testing using FTIR DSC hardness gauges mechanical testing machines and more
How to follow written test instructions and test a wide array of materials for compliance
Reading and interpreting numerous types of requirements and specifications.
The Chemical & Materials Engineer I (Elastomers) job is in Tucson AZ and the position is onsite.
Qualifications You Must Have:
Typically requires a Bachelors degree in Science Technology Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and less than 2 years of prior relevant experience.
Experience in chemistry and general laboratory equipment (i.e. FTIR TGA DSC SEM/EDS ovens thermometers calipers and microscopes)
Qualifications We Prefer
Experience working in wet labs interpreting safety data sheets and understanding common chemical safety procedures
The ability to perform and managing high volume highly technical work
Chemistry degree (e.g. analytical general or organic)
Experience reading and interpreting technical specifications
Understanding of material testing/analysis such as: hardness adhesion tests sample preparation procedures and cross sectioning

The salary range for this role is 55000 USD - 107000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
