Job Summary
Responsible for the procurement of goods and/or raw materials. Supports cost down initiatives payment terms and supplier contracts. Ensure no delays to production.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for all purchasing functions related to the procurement of goods and/or raw materials as assigned including order placement and follow up. Negotiate lead times with vendors. Resolves daily supplier issues.
- Expedite orders to ensure no delays to production attends daily production shortage meetings.
- Reviews material quantities and dates required determining accurate start and completion dates and communicates any issues to management.
- Supports and participates in business improvements including Lean and 5S activities as required.
- Plan and place material purchase orders to ensure that material flow to the plant is in line with the customer demand/company plan (MPS/MRP) with the use of schedules consignment stock kanban and other order systems as required.
- Investigation and approval of Supplier Invoice Issues
- Actively manage Supplier Delivery performance through the use of KPIs and routine performance reviews with critical suppliers.
- Undertake any other duties as may be reasonably required within the scope of the role.
Basic Qualifications
- CIPS Certification or equivalent.
Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements
Fully site based.
Key Competencies
- Experience of casting and machining (including managing subcontract machine shops)
- Proven materials management and purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
- SAP experience
- Experience of scheduling MRP MPS and consignment stocking
- Demonstrative proactive approach and initiative in problem solving.
- Ability to communicate and interface diplomatically and effectively with all levels of the organisation external suppliers etc.
- Able to work on own initiative and as member of small team.
