Description

In accordance with the Vision Purpose and Values and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reporting to the Manager or designate the Long-Term Care and Assisted Living Clerk performs a variety of administrative support and data entry functions supporting the efficient processing of patient registration and client encounters within the health care system in accordance with established procedures including data entry general word processing and answering general inquiries related to patient/resident encounters and patient registration processes.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education Training And Experience

Grade 12. Office Administration Certificate and two years recent related experience in a health care setting or an equivalent combination of education training and experience.

Skills And Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others in fast-paced deadline-oriented environment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize.
  • Ability to type 60 wpm.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in computer word processing spreadsheet applications and specialized clinical information systems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of office practices and systems.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Long-Term Care and Assisted Living.
  • Ability to establish and maintain rapport with clients.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Ability to accurately enter data and follow established procedures.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
