Autism Support Assistant Barking & Dagenham September Start

Autism Support Assistant Role Overview:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with Autism

  • Work closely with SEND and teaching teams to ensure pupil progress

  • Use tailored strategies to support engagement and behaviour

  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers

  • Follow the curriculum while adapting materials where necessary

Autism Support Assistant Candidate Specification:

  • A 1:1 degree from a top 20 UK university

  • Previous experience supporting children with Autism (essential)

  • Confident in managing behaviour and supporting SEND pupils

  • Proactive creative and able to adapt quickly in the classroom

  • A true team player with excellent interpersonal skills

  • Desire to pursue teacher training in the future

  • Able to commute to and work full-time in Barking & Dagenham
