Autism Support Assistant Role Overview:
Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with Autism
Work closely with SEND and teaching teams to ensure pupil progress
Use tailored strategies to support engagement and behaviour
Foster a calm consistent learning environment for all pupils
Communicate effectively with parents and carers
Follow the curriculum while adapting materials where necessary
Promote social development and build positive relationships
Assist in the monitoring of academic progress and emotional wellbeing
Uphold strong behaviour management practices across school
Autism Support Assistant Candidate Specification:
A 1:1 degree from a top 20 UK university
Previous experience supporting children with Autism (essential)
Confident in managing behaviour and supporting SEND pupils
Proactive creative and able to adapt quickly in the classroom
A true team player with excellent interpersonal skills
Desire to pursue teacher training in the future
Able to commute to and work full-time in Barking & Dagenham
