Job Description

MacKillop Family Services provides governance and oversight of MacKillop Education. Our schools and programs are also aligned with Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools.

MacKillop Education Schoolsare locatedin Geelong (Foundation to Senior) Maidstone (Years 3 to 6) and Caulfield (Foundation to Senior). Our schools cater for students with diverse learning needs who are disengaged or at risk of disengaging from education. The ratio of staff to students in each classroom as 1:4. We provide an individualised and differentiated learning program for each student. Students may re-enter mainstream school or remain at MacKillop.

This rewarding role is based within MacKillop Education Caulfield (MacKillop Specialist School F-12) and reports directly to the Education and Wellbeing Leader. As an Education Support team member at our Caulfield Campus youll be at the heart of student growth. Youll work side-by-side with a dedicated team and Key Teacher to create engaging responsive learning experiences tailored to meet the diverse needs of our students. Your work will be hands-on and impactfulsupporting students one-on-one in small groups and within the classroom environment to promote both learning and wellbeing.

A core part of your role will be helping students stay focused and regulated especially when they face challenges in the classroom. Youll be someone who brings patience empathy and a proactive approach to building trust and guiding students toward success.

We have a Permanent Full-time opportunity available based in Caulfield VICwithin our MacKillop Education Program.

Key Selection Criteria:

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Relevant work experience and a minimum Diploma Qualification Certificate IV in Education Support or Special needs or equivalent.
  • A knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of the current issues faced by Aboriginal children young people and their families.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience in understanding the unique nature of providing high quality educational experiences to young people with multiple and complex needs including those marginalised from school and society through trauma abuse and neglect. This includes the ability to co-regulate with students who become dysregulated.
  • An understanding of teaching and learning strategies and the ability to implement these as required.

  • Valid and current Drivers Licence;
  • Satisfactory Criminal History Check;
  • Valid Employee Working with Children Check;
  • Valid and current NDIS Workers Screening Check (for risk assessed / client facing roles)
