Recognised as one of the worlds largest IT and business consulting firms CGI has offices across Australia supporting local public and private sector clients to solve real business problems.
We are seeking a Principal Data Consultant within our Data Advisory team who will lead engagements that deliver meaningful business outcomes by guiding organisations through complex data challenges. You will work with enterprise clients across industries helping them define and execute strategies that turn data assets into operational insights and measurable value. With a clear focus on shaping and implementing modern data architectures you will advise senior stakeholders and C-level leaders on how to embed data at the heart of decision-making.
This is a unique opportunity to step into a senior consulting role that blends technical expertise with strategic influence. You will be at the forefront of data innovation advising on modern platforms such as AWS Azure and Databricks and helping organisations realise value through AI data governance and self-service operating models. Your future duties and responsibilities:
Shape and implement data strategies that align to client business goals with a clear focus on unlocking measurable value from data investments
Advise and influence senior stakeholders including C-suite leaders guiding them through complex data decisions and operating model design
Lead and deliver data maturity assessments identifying capability gaps and translating findings into practical prioritised roadmaps
Design and architect modern data platforms and blueprints across cloud environments (AWS Azure Databricks) balancing scalability security and business agility
Champion strong data governance analytics and AI adoption enabling self-service literacy and embedded intelligence across client organisations
Facilitate workshops visioning sessions and knowledge-sharing forums establishing yourself as a trusted advisor and thought leader in the data space
Drive business development and pre-sales activity supporting proposal writing SoWs and commercial modelling with clear articulation of client value and outcomes
Support delivery assurance and team capability uplift mentoring junior consultants promoting Agile practices and contributing to the growth of CGIs data advisory offering
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
Extensive consulting experience in data strategy AI and analytics
Proven ability to engage and influence C-level executives
Deep expertise in one or more of data governance architecture platforms analytics or engineering
Strong Agile delivery management experience across complex programs
Hands-on knowledge of AWS Azure Databricks and Snowflake and GCP is desirable (but not essential)
Experience with modern data platforms and demonstrable policy development
Trusted mentor with a collaborative leadership style and commitment to team success
