Job Title: Truck/Railcar Loader
Department: Shipping & Receiving
Reports To: Shipping Supervisor
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Position Summary:
The Truck/Railcar Loader is responsible for safely and accurately loading flatbed trucks and railcars with finished materials while maintaining inventory integrity and supporting production and rework operations. This role operates in a high-traffic environment and requires strict adherence to safety standards and teamwork.
Successful Candidate:
Will demonstrate the ability to safely operate a forklift in a high-traffic fast-paced environment while adhering to all safety protocols and equipment inspection procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Load outbound trucks and railcars according to the provided pick sheets and schedules
  • Verify that loaded materials match order specifications and shipping documents
  • Assist in unloading production lines and support line unloader as needed
  • Safely operate a forklift and other lift equipment in a high-traffic area
  • Load wall links and perform necessary staging activities
  • Pull units for rework and damaged bundle repair
  • Maintain inventory accuracy including pulling tags and staging for inspection
  • Ensure bundles are neatly stacked and wrapping is intact (tape holes re-tack paper)
  • Keep work area and yard clean; pick up trash and police the area regularly
  • Complete all paperwork accurately and deliver to inventory control coordinator
  • Ensure all safety protocols are followed including driver rules during loading
  • Perform pre-operation equipment checks (forklift fluids horn etc.) and complete daily inspection checklist
  • Assist with additional tasks and cross-functional needs as assigned by supervisor
Job Requirements:
Skills & Abilities:
  • Ability to safely operate and maintain forklift
  • Able to make quick accurate decisions under pressure
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Comfortable working at heights up to 25 feet
  • Ability to troubleshoot minor operational issues
  • Knowledge of Lockout/Tagout procedures
  • Basic math skills
  • Ability to read a tape measure
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to tell time and complete paperwork accurately
  • Familiarity with veneer specifications and identifying wood defects
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand walk sit climb stairs and operate equipment for extended periods
  • Must be able to climb and work at elevated heights
  • Capable of working in both indoor and outdoor environments
Licensing & Certifications:
  • Forklift License (Required)
  • Crane Certification (Required)
  • Aerial Lift Certification (Required)
Safety & Conduct Expectations:
  • Report unsafe practices immediately
  • Use tools (box cutters band cutters) properly and safely
  • Follow all company safety rules and policies
  • Ensure drivers remain in their cabs during loading/unloading; smoking permitted in cab only
  • Maintain good housekeeping in all work areas
Work Schedule:
Full-time hours vary by shift and operational demand. Overtime may be required.
