About the role

We are currently seeking a Mechanic in joining our Workshop team on a permanent full-time basis. With robust on the job training and mentoring you proactively build upon your existing industry experience with this unique opportunity. You will be working as a valued team member responsible for the effective maintenance and repairs of Councils diverse vehicle and plant fleet. Our Workshop team carries out maintenance and servicing scheduled and un-scheduled repairs fabrication and registration inspections on a wide variety of heavy and light vehicles trailers major plant equipment and small plant items.

We have 1x vacancy based in our afternoon shift crew. Please see hours of work below. This position operates on a 76-hour fortnight with a Rostered Day Off every second Friday.

Afternoon Shift

  • 2:00pm to 11:00pm (Monday - Thursday)
  • 9.00am to 5.30pm (Friday alt to RDO)

Essential criteria

  • TAFE Certificate of Trade in the Automotive Mechanics field
  • Sound knowledge and experience as a Mechanic in the Motor Vehicle Repair Industry
  • Current Motor Mechanic Tradesperson Certificate as issued from NSW Fair Trading
  • Understanding of and experience with preventative maintenance programs
  • Understanding of and experience with investigation costing and reporting of faults/repairs
  • Knowledge of and commitment to Work Health and Safety (WHS) and Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) principles
  • Current Class C Driver Licence

Commencing Salary: $76329.00 - $88355.00 per annum plus 11.5% superannuation andan Adverse Working Conditions Allowance in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award.

You will be required to undertake employment checks which may include a Criminal History Check Qualification Check Working with Children Check Medical Declaration and/or a Functional Test as relevant to the position for which you have applied. Where a Criminal History Check is required and has returned a result that indicates disclosable court outcomes you will be required to provide a copy of the report to Penrith City Council for review in order to progress through the recruitment process.
