Job Description

  • Temporary full-time position until November 2025
  • Based in Townsville QLD

The Smith Family is a national childrens education charity that works with children and young people experiencing poverty to overcome their circumstances and reach their full potential by providing holistic long-term support for their education.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Project Officer Communities for Children to join our organisation. Reporting to the Manager Communities For Children and working alongside dedicated energised and passionate team members this role will support the CfCFP Committee community stakeholders and community partners in building community capacity. You will be responsible for:

  • Providing administration and project support to maintain positive active partnerships
  • Attending meetings keeping accurate records (minutes and notes) taking the role of Chair as/when required
  • Developing creating and providing relevant data collection information and process documents (collateral)
  • Assisting in the analysis of community data and identification of trends to inform on-going planning
  • Building and maintaining positive relationships and networks within the community

About you

As well as passion for community you will bring the following:

  • Tertiary qualification or equivalent in Social Science Humanities or equivalent
  • Knowledge of the child family and community services sector and service systems
  • Thorough understanding of Outcomes Based Accountability frameworks and program logic models
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and apply capacity building methodologies across the community sector
  • High level communication and influencing skills (verbal and written) and the ability to work positively across a diverse range of views and interests
  • Extensive experience in data collection analysis and data management systems
  • Full current Drivers Licence or an ability to obtain one prior to shortly after commencement
  • Have or willing to obtain an employee Working With Childrens Check
