Sr. Design Technician

This is a non-Engineer fielding role. which will require occasional travel to client sites. The Design Field Technician is responsible for working independently to gather detailed information on utility poles.

As a Sr. Design Technician a typical day may include the following:

• Demonstrating sound engineering knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of project assignments with on-going mentorship from other engineers and managers and leadership of junior technicians.

• Performing increasingly complex engineering design tasks including pole analysis modeling creation of materials lists design prints and other items as needed.
• Completing design task for associated electric utility design projects including drafting engineering calculations easement validation; design/construction cost estimating & permit package development.
• Managing multiple projects in order to assure timely successful completion for projects resulting in high levels of customer satisfaction and company/departmental goal achievements.

• Conducting field noting and training junior technicians/engineers attendind client and/or construction crew walkdowns.
• Reviewing Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for updates or conflict reviews
• Reviewing client data records and other information as required to verify conflicts identify errors and/or perform updates and maintenance as needed.
• Learn and incorporate company safety rules and policies company design standards and governing authority regulations into daily work and designs

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Computer skills
• Must have own vehicle/reliable transportation and willingness to travel often (mileage reimbursement applies)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in gas and/or electric distribution design
• Advanced Degree in Technical related field
• Design skills including AutoCAD or Microstation and GIS software (SmallWorld Bentley Utility Designer)

Benefits & Salary:

• This position pays between $23.00 34.00/hr and is a non-exempt position. Compensation will depend on the experience level of the selected candidate.
• Benefits offered include company sponsored medical dental vision and 401(k) plan with company match. Also offered are tuition reimbursement voluntary life disability critical illness accident and hospitalization plans. HSA or FSA medical accounts and FSA dependent care and transportation/parking accounts are also available. These benefits are subject to employee contribution amounts generally set annually.
• Full time employees are eligible to earn PTO hours.
