JOB DESCRIPTION:
NUTRITION DIRECTOR
The Arts & College Preparatory Academy (ACPA) is an arts focused independent community school on the east side of Columbus that serves a diverse population of students in grades 7 through 12 from over 25 different districts in central Ohio. ACPA just completed its twenty-third year of operation and has consistently been one of the highest performing charter schools in Ohio.
The description below outlines the responsibilities and expectations for the NUTRITION DIRECTOR. This is a kitchen position that is crucial to daily operations and student health. The NUTRITION DIRECTOR position should be capable of multitasking in a high paced busy environment. The NUTRITION DIRECTOR should have a friendly demeanor be detail oriented and able to serve student and staff needs.
The NUTRITION DIRECTOR will be expected to reflect the ACPA mission and vision and the school values of kindness respect for diversity honesty problem solving communication participation and awareness in all interactions with school stakeholders including students staff parents and community partners.
Responsibilities for the NUTRITION DIRECTOR include but are not limited to the following:
- Oversee food services operations by organizing evaluating and directing the ACPA Cafe & food services program.
- Execute delicious seasonal cycle menus in collaboration with the food services team nutrition analysis provider and students.
- Supervise kitchen staff and delegate supervision when necessary.
- Ensure staff trainings are in compliance.
- Complete staff schedules and coordinate staffing to ensure optimal daily operations.
- Maintain all records (using ACPAs cloud-based management system) for yearly state reviews audits etc. and manage compliance with all local state and federal regulations.
- Adhere to compliance to all required Building Health and Safety inspections and the appropriate governing departments.
- Collect and maintain students record information pertaining to the National School Lunch Free/Reduced lunch programs.
- Understand and maintain compliance with all USDA/NSLP reimbursable meal program requirements.
- Participation in all state and federally required trainings related to USDA/NSLP reimbursable meal programs (this includes at least 12 hours of required annual continuing education) child safety mandatory reporting and any other trainings as deemed necessary by ACPA.
- Oversee budget procurement inventory production and service of breakfast lunch snack and dinner-to-go meals.
- Attend regular meetings with the Director of Operations and administrative team to review fiscal and programmatic policies and procedures ensuring compliance to all state and federal requirements and a fiscally sound cafe program.
- Thematically include school vision and mission components in their interactions and service to students when appropriate.
- Contribute to and maintain an environment within the ACPA Caf that reflects positive school culture and the ACPA values including creating a space of mutual respect for patrons kitchen staff.
- Ensure that the Cafe is a welcoming clean & tidy space where both kitchen staff and patrons are held responsible for keeping the space up to ACPA standards.
- Collaborate with Instructional Facility and other ACPA departments to ensure high standards of care and service.
- Create and implement innovative programmatic solutions in collaboration with other Administrative departments to fulfill the needs of the ACPA Community. (i.e. Inservice Days Family Engagement Positive Fiscal Health of ACPA Cafe and Staff Appreciation etc.)
