The primary purpose of the Health & Safety Specialist is to assist the Health & Safety Department in daily implementation and activities related to preventing injuries and illnesses. The Health & Safety Specialist plays a key role in maintaining Job Safety Analysis (JSA) physical demands and helps drive a Safety Always culture. The Health & Safety Specialist position requires attention to detail ability to understand and interpret compliance requirements and must be able to work with all levels of employees maintaining integrity in all aspects of their duties.
The Health & Safety Specialist will report to the plant Safety Manager.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications :
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each crucial duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required.
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelors degree from four-year College or university in Occupational Safety or a related field preferred; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers clients and other employees of the organization.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to read and interpret State Federal and local laws as it pertains to safety and plant operations.
Digital Literacy
To perform this job optimally an individual should be proficient in Word PowerPoint and Excel. Training will be provided in the use of internal systems.
Certificates Licenses Registrations
No requirements for this role. CSP Certification or willingness to get certified as a CSP is preferred.

The employee is usually working in a plant or office environment. The typical noise level in the work environment is moderate. Appropriate PPE including hearing and eye protection and steel-toe shoes must be worn when in the production environment or as outlined in the area being worked.
