This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team in an emerging business at Amazon. Amazon is seeking an Sort Center Operations Manager to join our Amazon Transport Services team. For this position were seeking an operations leader to drive innovation and execution excellence in our Sort Center operations. This leader will be comfortable managing and inspiring large teams able to think strategically (while paying careful attention to detail) and enjoy working in a fast-paced dynamic and data-intensive operations environment. The successful candidate will be a natural self-starter who is comfortable supporting both daily operational activities and large complex and cross-functional projects. This individual must have a curious mind-set excellent analytical abilities as well as superior written and verbal communication skills.
Key job responsibilities
Oversee and improve performance of all aspects of sortation operations at BWU5 co-located site including but not limited to:
- Leading sort center activities and coordination of staff plans and operating schedules.
- Hiring and developing a strong performing team fostering a culture of safety customer obsession and engagement.
- Evaluating and implementing process quality and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Encouraging and strengthening our strong culture of health and safety best practices.
- Contributing to cross-functional projects as needed.
- Writing well-reasoned and data-driven proposals performing own data analysis as required.
- 2 years of employee and performance management experience
- Bachelors degree or equivalent or 2 years of Amazon (blue badge/FTE) experience
- Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area including weekends nights and/or holidays
- 2 years of performance metrics process improvement or lean techniques experience
