About the Position:
The Harris County Juvenile Probation Department (HCJPD) is seeking an experienced dynamic motivated professional to join our executive team to further transform Juvenile Justice.The Director of The Opportunity Center serves as a key organizational leader responsible for advancing The Opportunity Centers mission through strategic oversight of both external and internal operations.

This role provides visionary leadership in strengthening The Opportunity Centers public presence cultivating strategic partnerships and enhancing communication efforts to broaden community impact and stakeholder engagement. Internally the Director leads the development and optimization of organizational infrastructure systems and processes to support sustainable growth operational excellence and programmatic effectiveness. This position plays a pivotal role in aligning day-to-day operations with long-term strategic goals ensuring The Opportunity Center remains a dynamic mission-driven institution.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership and Vision:
    • Lead the development refinement and execution of The Opportunity Centers strategic plan ensuring alignment of resources staff and initiatives with the organizations workforce development mission.
    • Facilitate the creation and implementation of long-term strategies and performance goals that promote organizational growth and community impact.
    • Serve as the primary spokesperson and advocate for The Opportunity Center increasing brand visibility and advancing public awareness of its programs and outcomes.
    • Cultivate strategic alliances and partnerships with employers training providers community-based organizations and public agencies to expand service reach and improve employment outcomes.
  • Organizational Management and Oversight:
    • Provide executive oversight of day-to-day operations ensuring high standards of program quality operational efficiency and compliance with applicable funding and regulatory requirements.
    • Develop and implement rigorous systems for program evaluation and data-driven performance tracking to inform decision-making and demonstrate impact to stakeholders.
    • Lead mentor and support a high-performing management team fostering professional growth collaboration and accountability.
    • Proactively engage alumni funders employers and community partners to sustain momentum and build organizational support.
  • Infrastructure and Operational Excellence:
    • Strengthen organizational infrastructure to support scalability innovation and consistent service delivery across all programs.
    • Promote cross-functional collaboration effective internal communication and a positive inclusive workplace culture that reflects the values of equity and community empowerment.
    • Align operational practices and data systems to support strategic priorities and continuous improvement.
  • Program Development and Innovation:
    • Identify design and implement innovative workforce development initiatives that respond to emerging labor market trends and community needs.
    • Drive continuous improvement in program design and delivery ensuring measurable performance outcomes and high levels of participant success.
    • Establish clear benchmarks and metrics to evaluate program effectiveness impact and return on investment.
  • External Relations and Community Engagement:
    • Maintain and enhance relationships with key stakeholders including local state and national partners community leaders funders and policymakers.
    • Represent The Opportunity Center in external forums to advocate for workforce development priorities and promote the organizations leadership role in the field.
    • Leverage collaborative networks and partnerships to amplify the Centers impact and support systemic change in employment and economic opportunity.

The Opportunity Center is part of the Harris County Juvenile Probation Department (HCJPD). The mission of The Opportunity Center is to provide justice-involved youth with streamlined access to support services that decrease risk factors while offering a workforce development solution that can redirect our youth from future criminal justice involvement and empower them to lead self and community transformation.

HCJPD is committed to the protection of the public utilizing intervention strategies that are community-based family-oriented and least restrictive while emphasizing the responsibility and accountability of both parent and child. HCJPD provides supervision and services to youth between the ages of 10 and 17 who are under the jurisdiction of the Juvenile Court. HCJPD is the largest juvenile probation department in Texas with approximately 1100 employees and over 3500 youth referred to the department annually.

Harris County Juvenile Probation Department - Be an Agent of Change:


Position Type and Typical Hours of Work:
  • Regular Full-time

  • Monday Friday

    • This position may occasionally require travel to attend meetings across Harris County outside of standard business hours.


Salary:
  • Depends on Qualifications
  • Based on 26 Pay Periods
    • Plus benefits Includes comprehensive benefits package

Employment is contingent upon passing a background check and drug screen.
