Senior Acquisitions Analyst

Job Description

MBK Rental Living is seeking a Senior Acquisitions Analyst to join our team at our home office in Irvine CA. This is a hybrid role with 3 days on-site and 2 days remote.

Job Summary:

Drive the strategic growth and performance of the companys multi-family portfolio through advanced financial modeling market research and operational analysis. Support both new investments and asset optimization by developing detailed proforma models evaluating cost structures and analyzing income and expense trends. Leverage a strong foundation in real estate development and finance combined with strategic thinking analytical rigor and cross-functional collaboration to deliver actionable insights that enhance portfolio value.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Generate and maintain proforma models to evaluate acquisition opportunities joint ventures dispositions and recapitalizations.
  • Perform scenario and sensitivity analyses to assess risk-adjusted returns IRR equity multiples and DCF valuations.
  • Proficient in return metrics (IRR equity multiple yield-on-cost) and how they relate to development risk and capital stack structure.
  • Understanding of joint venture waterfalls promote structures and investor return hurdles commonly used in development partnerships.
  • Analysis of submarket fundamentals rent trends supply/demand dynamics and competitive positioning to inform underwriting assumptions and asset management.
  • Prepare and regularly maintain detailed asset-level reports and dashboards for internal stakeholders and capital partners with insights on NOI trends and cash flow forecasts.
  • Designs and refines underwriting policies deal approval thresholds capital-stack guidelines) and interprets regulatory requirements to ensure compliance
  • Prepares investment committee materials quarterly asset reviews and hold/sell analyses.
  • Independently evaluates real estate market trends regulatory changes and economic indicators relevant to multi-family investments.
  • Regularly leads cross-functional small teams in collaboration with analysts legal development construction partners and asset management teams.
  • Proactive strategic thinker with a deep understanding of how to balance short-term execution with long-term asset value creation.
  • Leverages a deep specialized understanding of real estate financeincluding IRR DCF joint-venture waterfalls and capital marketsto perform complex analyses.
  • Produces strategic investment committee materials and custom modeling frameworks that require invention and intellectual rigor.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree highly preferred;

Experience Requirements (in years):

  • 3 years in a multi-family real estate analyst capacity; candidates with experience in development acquisitions and asset management are highly preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel financial modeling; experience in Yardi or similar real estate platforms is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of real estate capital markets financing structures and value creation strategies.

Required Competencies/Licenses/Certifications:

  • Microsoft Suite competency.
  • Critical thinker with keen observation skills and an ability to draw conclusions in order to form actionable hypothesis.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to synthesize complex data for senior leadership.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

  • Must be mobile and able to perform the physical requirements of the job bending kneeling stooping pushing pulling and repetitive motion.
  • Ability to sit and work at a computer for long periods of time.
  • Able to move intermittently throughout the workday and between divisions.
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 30 lbs. and push up to 20lbs. as necessary.
  • Some travel required.
