Field Engineer Experienced
The field engineer will act as the focal point for projects. Evaluates customers requests to AFL to provide EF&I services for their project. Conducts site surveys (if applicable) with customer for requested work. Provide detailed site survey to engineering and TEO Prep/Estimating. Provides a detailed installation specification to the installation department for requested equipment. Provides installation with on-site engineering support as needed.
Responsibilities
- Receives and analyzes input document from customer paying close attention to critical dates and
detailed information supplied. - Contacts customer to schedule site survey (if feasible) and gathers the necessary form and
drawings for the walk through. - If feasible conducts detailed Engineering site survey with the customer or independently as
needed. - Furnishes survey information for development of the bid or customer specific response forms.
- Compile list of all required material types quantities cable lengths etc. to complete requested
work. - Pre orders long lead material items as needed so as not to jeopardize critical due dates.
- Prepares/issues as needed detailed job spec and drawings prior to the installation start date.
- Creates a presence and maintains a continuing dialog with the customer in order to proactively
plan/recommend future projects. - Recommends changes to standard material libraries to ensure that the appropriate supplies are
being provided. - Assist in updating AFL Engineering standards and procedures as required to meet customer or
equipment requirements. - Assists field installation groups in resolving technical issues.
- Attends customer held meetings as needed.

- Confident to communicate at all levels both within the organization with customers and
contractors. - Able to work on own initiative self-motivated- resourceful and cope well under pressure.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree and/or six years of industry related experience.
- Knowledge of Telco services and systems.
- Knowledge of engineering and computer principles.
- Knowledge of installation procedures.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form
and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
