Columbia Middle School is developing our STEM/Maker Space/and PLTW programs and seeks an energetic and innovative educator to join our team. We are seeking a teacher who is collaborative organized enthusiastic an excellent communicator and has the ability to inspire students to be creative thinkers and learners while developing students cognitive skills using a variety of programs and platforms. Teach content within the CTE frameworks.
The ideal candidate will have middle school teaching experience a background or passion for STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math) The Maker Space Movement and PLTW curriculum. The ideal candidate will also have a passion for student-centered collaborative and inquiry/project based education.
The successful candidate will:
- Deliver STEM-oriented instruction through project based learning methods.
- Teach students to work collaboratively to solve problems and to think logically and creatively.
- Have the ability to integrate multiple facets of technology to enhance learning and instruction particularly in a one-to-one device classroom environment.
- Have strong communication skills and the ability to inspire students to innovate and create.
- Create an environment where students will strengthen their creative problem-solving critical thinking teamwork and organizational skills.
- Teach students to be proficient using the applications with the Google Suite and other web-based platforms.
- Implement Project Lead The Way an activity project and problem-based instructional design curriculum that features hands-on applications. PLTW provides engaging high-quality activities and projects that challenge students to use what they learn in the classroom to solve real-world problems. PLTW curriculum enables students to gain mastery of important content standards and concepts while building problem solving critical and creative thinking communication collaboration and ethical reasoning and mindset.
- Schedule may consist of 1 period teaching WA state History. Position will primarily be STEM.
Desired Qualifications:
- Washington State Teachers Certificate
- Be CTE certified or have experience in related field.
- Evidence of behaviors conducive to continuous improvement and collaboration.
- Training or experience in using technology and real-world applications to enhance teaching and learning.
- Proven ability to motivate and instruct students of all ability levels with emphasis on providing for their individual learning styles.
- Demonstrated success in maintaining a positive productive learning climate within the classroom as well as with parents and colleagues.
- Exemplary evidence of satisfactory experience in curriculum development classroom management and organization for routine detail.
- Training or experience in trauma informed care and adverse childhood experiences.
- Experience with MTSS and PBIS
