The Role
Perched on the edge of the Great Dividing Range Toowoomba is known as the Garden City and has a population around 160000. Its 90 minutes from Brisbane 2 hours from the Gold Coast and 3 hours from the Sunshine Coast. Toowoomba is the hub for southern Queensland and offers a great lifestyle from the adventurous mountain bike and walking tracks to the serenity of the lush rainforests of the Bunya Mountains and wineries of the Granite Belt. Education and medical services are excellent and while a little chilly in winter the other seasons are ideal. From the vast plains of the Darling Downs to the salad bowl of the Lockyer Valley the region offers a wide variety of opportunities and experiences.
When you wake up in the morning whats the first thing you do to get up-to-date on local news In Toowoomba our audience turns on the radio flicks to social and checks out the ABC news app and website. You could drive that content and experience.
We are on the hunt for someone confident to pick up a phone and keep calling until weve got the stories needed to set a compelling news agenda and get local chins wagging.
ABC Southern Queensland is searching for a highly motivated content maker to present and produce our Saturday Breakfast radio show and tell digital stories to Toowoomba and beyond. Theres also a chance to get behind the microphone and present and produce radio segments and programs for our Monday to Friday programs when required. If youve got the tenacity to keep calling create social posts that generate loads of engagement and write digital stories that keep our audience scrolling then start work on your application.

Create content for multiple platforms to engage local state and national audiences.
- Provide in-studio production support and manage talk-back callers and guests.
- Contribute to the implementation of the Local Emergency Coverage plan and communicate with relevant stakeholders as required.
- Create local content that can be shared with other content teams across the ABC
Position Description:PROGRAM
About You
Youll have a history of developing contacts and breaking news as well as a personable on-air style.
As a self-starter you will have:
- A contemporary manner with proven experience delivering creative attractive cross-media content
- An understanding of the regional audiences
- Ability to analyse information and exercise judgement
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Experience working as an integral member of a small team
- A current and valid drivers Licence.
