Job Description
What youll do at OhioMHAS:
Operates dispatch equipment on assigned shift:promptly answers all in-coming calls connects caller with correct extension; supplies authorized information (i.e. names of department heads address of facility names of other administrators) to callers;
Pages employees & makes announcements as requested/authorized;
Provides patients with telephone lines for authorized use (e.g. personal legal) during authorized periods of time;
Places calls &/or provides long distance/local phone lines for employees on hospital-related business;
Supplies walk-in visitors during normal business hours with information &/or directs them to appropriate staff;
Announces all emergency codes/drills (e.g. medical psychiatric danger disaster fire & alerts) as directed; notifies designated personnel of emergency codes according to established procedures;
Serves as contact person with facilitys police officers after regular business hours; completes unit checks on an hourly basis after normal business hours; contacts on call staff upon direction of shift nursing supervisor &/or shift police officer; receives reports of telephone problems from staff & reports to supervisor;
Completes required clerical duties such as maintaining various logs types routine documents;
Complies with & understands policies procedures rules & regulations of switchboard operation; attends scheduled training.
