Job Description

The Houstonoffice of SmithGroupis looking for aSenior Interior Designerto join our team.

Working with us you will:

  • Lead the design efforts for all stages of a project including leadership with the client contractors and internal team.
  • Assist in management of projects through developing project scope schedules job production quality and fee management.
  • Lead programming conceptualization development and integration of strategic design solutions.
  • Consult with manufacturers research and evaluate materials.
  • Document architectural drawings.
  • Assist in construction administration including responding to RFIs preparing sketches and addendums (CCDs) and visiting the construction site to gather information and/or prepare a punch list.
  • Oversee the design work of others to ensure integrated and cohesive design supervise preparation of drawings for all project phases and ensure guidelines quality control standards and details.
  • Lead all phases of the design process including programming and developing workplace standards.
  • Mentor junior staff and participate in performance coaching.
  • Participate in the recruitment and interviewing process as requested.

The ideal candidate has:

  • A bachelors degree in Architecture Interior Design or equivalent.
  • Minimum 10 years of related experience.
  • LEED AP preferred. Architectural or Interior Design registration required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Revit AutoCAD SketchUp Photoshop Illustrator and InDesign programs.
  • Technical competence and proven experience in schematic design through construction documents.
  • The ability to contribute and participate in an interdisciplinary team environment.
