Position Summary
North Central College invites applications for adjunct faculty to teach teacher preparatory courses within the Department of Education (Undergraduate/Graduate Teacher Prep: Elementary Secondary or K-12). Adjunct instructors are responsible for planning and delivering engaging instruction assessing student learning ensuring course content aligns with established standards evaluating and grading student work and holding office hours to support student success. Adjunct faculty appointments are made on a course-by-course basis. This posting is intended to build a pool of qualified candidates for future teaching opportunities as program needs vary from semester to semester. This is a non-benefits-eligible fixed-term appointment with no tenure eligibility. The number of courses assigned will depend on departmental needs and sufficient course enrollment. Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse community of students faculty and staff. Strong judgment discretion and the ability to maintain confidentiality are essential. RESPONSIBILITIES : Working with prior syllabi and master course outlines plan a comprehensive course meeting course objectives and standards. Establish relationships with students cultivating a classroom culture of character conducive to growth and development. Support the department and Colleges mission vision and values and contribute to the advancement of program goals. Demonstrate a strong commitment to continuous quality improvement. Demonstrate civil and inclusive behavior when interacting with staff faculty students and prospective students to the program or College. Promote a flexible collaborative and inclusive work environment and engage in educational opportunities. Other duties as assigned. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES : Excellent communication skills (persuasive and negotiation skills strong writing public speaking interpersonal and public relations skills). Ability to represent North Central College in a professional manner recruit and work within a diverse community. Ability to self-initiate and execute with minimal supervision. High level leadership organizational time management and planning skills. QUALIFICATION STANDARDS : Education/Training: A Masters degree (doctorate preferred) Experience: K-12 teaching experience License/Certification: Teacher licensure
