Job Description

THE ORGANIZATION

The Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT delivers research-based solutions that harness agricultural biodiversity and sustainably transform food systems to improve people s lives. Alliance solutions address the global crises of malnutrition climate change biodiversity loss and environmental degradation.


The Alliance works with local national and multinational partners across Latin America and the Caribbean Asia and Africa and with the public and private sectors. The Alliance is part of CGIAR a global research partnership for a food-secure future dedicated to reducing poverty enhancing food and nutrition security and improving natural resources and ecosystem services.


About the Project

Financed by Global Affairs Canada (GAC) and implemented by the Pan-Africa Bean Research Alliance (PABRA) within the Alliance of Bioversity & CIAT the B4WE Project aims to improve the socio-economic status of women by enhancing their access to productive resources such as quality seeds and agricultural training. Focusing on bean cultivation a vital resource for the local economy B4WE aims to increase womens incomes and empower them to actively participate in community and family decisions. The project is structured around several pillars: distribution of improved seeds training in modern agricultural techniques and integrating women into marketing channels. These efforts are complemented by an awareness component aimed at eliminating cultural barriers that limit womens participation in agriculture. B4WE strives to create a conducive environment where women can become key actors in rural development.


Key duties & responsibilities


Requirements

  • Bachelor s degree in agronomy agriculture or related sustainable agriculture fields.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working for donor-funded agricultural development projects with a good understanding of experimental designs field layout and data collection.
  • Experience in working with various stakeholders including farmers scientists and government agencies is beneficial.
  • Experience in working with various stakeholders including farmers scientists and government agencies
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with donor requirements and standards particularly those related to GAC.
  • Experience working with CGIAR or other international organisations and familiarity with working in Sub-Saharan Africa is desirable.
  • Understanding of sustainable farming practices
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Terms of employment

This position is a nationally recruited position based in Bukavu Democratic Republic of Congo. The initial contract will be for 1 year subject to a probation period of 3 months and is renewable depending on performance and availability of resources.


This position is graded at BG06 level in a scale of BG01 to BG14 (BG14 being the highest level according to the Alliance job classification framework policy).
