Position Title: Production Manager Modular Construction
Location: Mount Holly NC
Reports To: Director of Operations
Compensation: $90000 $110000 annually Benefits
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Production Manager to lead all modular construction production activities within our Mount Holly NC shop. This leadership role is similar to that of a Construction Site Superintendent but is focused entirely on managing modular build projects in a shop environment from raw materials to fully constructed modular units.
You will be responsible for the planning coordination and execution of all modular production operations with a strong emphasis on quality safety and team performance. This is a highly visible leadership position ideal for someone with a background in construction or manufacturing who thrives in fast-paced build-driven settings.
Lead Modular Production Operations: Oversee day-to-day shop activities related to modular unit construction ensuring projects are delivered safely on time and to spec.
Drive Project Planning & Execution: Collaborate with Pre-Production and Project Management teams to plan sequence and schedule production runs.
Team Leadership: Direct and coach a diverse team of tradespeople fabricators and shop workers; set clear expectations and lead by example.
Quality Oversight: Maintain high standards across all modular builds; implement quality control measures and lead corrective actions when needed.
Enforce Safety & Compliance: Promote and uphold a strong safety culture in alignment with OSHA standards and company policies.
Cross-Functional Coordination: Partner with Design Engineering Purchasing and Logistics teams to ensure alignment on materials designs and timelines.
Problem Solving: Quickly identify bottlenecks or resource gaps and take decisive action to maintain production flow.
Workforce Management: Participate in hiring manage timecards assign daily tasks and assess performance of shop personnel.
Continuous Improvement: Champion lean manufacturing practices and drive process improvements to boost efficiency and reduce rework or material waste.
Reporting & Accountability: Track KPIs and production milestones; provide regular updates to the Director of Operations and leadership team.
Leadership Experience: 35 years in a production management construction supervision or modular manufacturing leadership role
Industry Knowledge: Background in modular construction prefabrication or custom builds is highly preferred
Education: Bachelors degree in Construction Management Industrial Engineering Operations or equivalent hands-on experience
Blueprint & Plan Reading: Ability to interpret architectural and technical drawings; experience with build specifications and scopes of work
Strong Communication: Clear confident communicator with excellent team leadership and conflict resolution skills
Technical Proficiency: Comfortable using Microsoft Office Suite; ERP or scheduling software experience is a plus
Problem Solver: Resourceful and solutions-oriented able to anticipate production issues before they become delays
Lean Thinking: Familiarity with continuous improvement practices (e.g. 5S Kaizen Lean) is a strong advantage
