The Northern Land Council (NLC) welcomes Expressions of Interest from skilled and passionate Anthropology professionals who are eager to contribute to the protection of Aboriginal rights and interests in land and waters across the Northern Territory. Were seeking individuals committed to delivering high-quality anthropological advice and representation on matters that truly make a difference to traditional Aboriginal owners (TAOs) Native Title Holders (NTHs)and their communities.
About the Role
Our Anthropologist positions are responsible for providing anthropological advice in relation to the implementation of the Aboriginal Land Rights (NT) Act 1976 (Cth) (ALRA) and the Native Title Act 1993 (Cth) (NTA). The primary focus of these positions is to identify represent and assist traditional Aboriginal owners (TAOs) and Native Title Holders (NTHs) in matters arising from the acquisition use occupation and management of their land under ALRA and the NTA.
Assigned to a specific practice area youll have the chance to collaborate across all teams working alongside lawyers and other professionals gaining rich and varied experience.
What You Will Bring:
Youll bring a solid foundation in anthropological fieldwork and research strong cultural competency and a respectful approach to working with Aboriginal communities. With excellent communication and analytical skills youre able to translate complex cultural information into clear reports and advice. Whether youre an early-career professional or a seasoned Anthropologist your passion for protecting land rights and cultural heritage will drive your contribution to this important work.
