General Schedule:

Position typically works Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm at UCOs main campus in Edmond Oklahoma.

Position Overview:

Serves as chief administrator of athletic scholarships for all NCAA sports at the University of Central Oklahoma. Coordinates and communicates scholarship budget allocations with coaches. Possesses a robust understanding of NCAA and MIAA conference rules and bylaws as well as federal financial aid. Advises student-athletes to ensure their academic success utilizing intrusive advising methods the creation of a degree plan coordinating tutoring efforts and other strategies leading the student toward graduation. Reports to the Director of Student Financial Services and Operations.

Department Specific Essential Job Functions:

Performs various services associated with UCO athletics and the universitys responsibility to exercise institutional control particularly with regard to athletic financial aid. Serves as the designated financial aid officer for the institution and maintains scholarship profiles for each sport to assist coaches as they monitor NCAA scholarship limits and institutional budgets (over $1 million) to ensure team limits are not exceeded. Extensive interactions with coaches athletic administrators and NCAA compliance officers. Oversees the administration of athletic scholarships. Coordinates all aspects of athletic financial aid in compliance with the institutional conference and NCAA rules. Troubleshoots issues that may arise with regard to individual athletes and their financial aid packages. Signs on behalf of the university as the monitoring financial aid officer. Assists in the maintenance of the NCAA CAi system. Participates in institutional NCAA Rules Education sessions. Provides and assists with the counseling of student-athletes regarding academic endeavors acting as a resource person for academic information and decision-making strategies for progressing toward a degree. Assists in monitoring the academic progress of students as they progress toward graduation. Coordinates with various academic support areas across campus including Tutoring Counseling Career Services Student Support Services and others to remain aware of resources to assist student-athletes. Participates in monthly UCO Rules Education meetings held by Directors of Compliance providing information on updates related to Financial Aid and/or scholarship budgets. Attends professional conferences and workshops related to academic compliance requirements for the NCAA and MIAA. Serves as a member of the Athletics Advisory Council. Partners with Undergraduate Academic Advisement by attending meetings training and development opportunities workshops and other associated events and programs. Performs other related duties as assigned. The general schedule for this position is 40 hours a week Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Job Level:

Qualifications Required:

Bachelors degree and 7 years of directly related work experience to this position that provides experience in leading planning program development and innovation and assessment. Extensive knowledge and comprehensive understanding of the functional area. Appropriate professional accomplishments and credentials.

Qualifications Preferred:

Minimum three years of experience in a higher education setting. Preferred: Masters degree. Experience working in an Academic Advisement Financial Aid Admissions or Enrollment-Management operation.
