Job Description

Squares Strategic portfolio of sellers is rapidly expanding and with it the need for dedicated account leadership has never been more critical. The Mid-Market Account Management team at Square is seeking a seasoned customer-focused professional to steward a fixed book of high-potential Mid-Market sellers across the retail vertical in the US. This role is pivotal in both protecting and accelerating the growth of some of Squares most impactful customer relationships. By serving as a trusted advisor and advocate the Account Manager drives mutual successensuring sellers realize long-term value from the Square ecosystem while driving meaningful growth for our core business.

As an Account Manager on our team youll be at the forefront of helping diverse dynamic business owners thrive with Square. Reporting to our Retail team lead your role is all about building meaningful partnerships with clients in the retail spaceunderstanding their unique needs crafting innovative solutions and championing them within Square.

Success in this role requires close collaboration with Customer Success Onboarding Product and Squares Solutions Engineering teams. Were looking for candidates with a background in account management consulting or sales who bring a growth mindset and a proven ability to drive growth in a book of business with curiosity empathy and tenacity.



Role Priorities

You will:

  • Manage a book of up to 250 Strategic Sellers
  • Grow account-based revenue via use-case expansion opportunities cross-sell opportunities and customized seller onboarding experiences
  • Identify opportunities for technical Square solutions to address existing customer needs; project manage the execution of these technical solutions in collaboration with cross-functional teams
  • Partner with Account Executives on newly onboarded high-growth opportunities
  • Negotiate contracts for use-case expansion and retention of your sellers
  • Serve as the voice of the seller to Squares Product Teams on behalf of your portfolio
  • Provide white glove client service to ensure resolution of seller issues

You have:

  • Consistent over-performance on key metrics; experience exceeding revenue targets within a book of business
  • 3 years of sales or account management experience
  • Remarkable discovery skills with customers
  • Proven experience managing projects internally with engineering product and/or finance teams
  • Contract and/or pricing negotiations experience with external senior stakeholders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Creative and strategic problem solving capabilities resolving issues and tackling opportunities with no playbook
  • Passion and knowledge about how new technologies can help better serve independent business owners
  • Experience within the Retail industry is ideal but not required.

Block takes a market-based approach to pay and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidates starting pay will be determined based on the candidates work location and may be modified in the future.

Zone A: USD $106600.00 - USD $159800.00

Zone B: USD $9900.00 - USD $148700.00

Zone C: USD $90600.00 - USD $136000.00

Zone D: USD $80000.00 - USD $120000.00

Amounts listed above include target variable compensation.
