Teacher in Training

**Sign On Bonus $2500** (paid in 2 parts 1/2 at 30 days and 1/2 at a year)

Available shifts - Monday - Friday between 8:00 am - 4:00 pm - no weekends

As a Teacher in Training you will be responsible for development of classroom instructional plans for students and support students success in academic and behavioral goals. You will report to the Principal and work on-site.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a classroom instructional plan based on a students IEP and grade and subject area curricula; work with content area teachers to ensure that their lessons are differentiated as to meet the needs of all students.
  • Develop and implement Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs) for all students on their caseload. Ensure that accommodations and modifications are provided. Provide specially designed instruction and monitor student progress toward academic and behavioral goals. Complete progress reports and IEP updates and participate in CSE meetings as scheduled.
  • Develop and coordinate the implementation of individual and classroom behavior plans for managing student behavior to maintain discipline in the classroom; oversee the collecting of behavior data; assist classroom staff with crisis prevention and intervention techniques; assist classroom staff with de-escalation techniques; teach students appropriate behavior strategies.
  • Manage and model the implementation of classroom PBIS universal components and Tier 2 and 3 strategies for selected students.
  • Schedule and oversee teacher assistants as they assist students in multiple non-instructional environments.
  • Provide leadership to assigned teacher assistants in the various clerical and non-instructional duties for your classroom.
  • Work collaboratively with other teachers clinicians administrators medical staff and other school staff to provide integrated support assistance and treatment to students.

Requirements and Education:

  • Bachelors degree and/or New York State Certification as a Teacher Assistant.
  • 2 years experience working with students in an educational setting.
  • Certification/Licensure in progress for a Special Education Teacher.
