This position is assigned to the School for the Blind. This program provides educational social and emotional development for students who are blind/visually impaired and students with additional disabilities to include emotional / behavior learning physical / medical and/or cognitive ensuring a safe environment on campus and in the workplace/community.
This position exists to provide administrative support to the Principal and staff of the School for the Blind. In this role this position will be responsible for developing/implementing forms and processes in support of general office and administrative operations and will be responsible for all administrative support tasks necessary within the office of an educational/residential environment. In the absence of the Principal and within school policies and appropriate limits established by the Principal the position acts on behalf of the Principal in monitoring and resolving issues within the school.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Organize office work performing all necessary functions such as computer keying answering phones greeting visitors copying word processing tracking various functions and budgets handling mail correspondence establishing general office record-keeping systems to ensure timely retrieval of all information etc.
Implement effective processes to schedule assure parent student and district notification and complete documentation related to student Individual Education Plan (IEP) meetings.
Initiate/prepare documentation and distribute requested information to other school districts agencies and parents while complying with the Federal Education Rights Privacy Act (FERPA) and Colorado State and Federal Standards.
Account for the work units allotted funds by tracking expenditures and reconcile with accounting reports.
Create schedules for a wide variety of school related issues.
Design various forms and develop office procedures necessary to ensure the smooth operation of the Principals office as well as of the work unit as a whole.
Utilize MS Office software various database systems and various types of office equipment to facilitate work.
Input discipline records in appropriate student database.
Process lunch payments and issue temporary IDs for students.
Obtain information for annual reports of students eligible for Federal Quota funds.
Prepare morning announcements and share ineligibility list weekly.
Assure electronically distributed information is accessible to screen reader programs.
Create and prepare certificates of awards quarterly.
Perform all other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience Only:
Three (3) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position
OR
Education and Experience:
A combination of related education and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to three (3) years
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience with the State of Colorado.
- Previous Admin experience for a school.
- Experience working with students who are Blind/ Visually Impaired.
- Knowledge of and ability to assess and apply technology to perform the requirements of the position; ability to effectively utilize a variety of computer software applications which may include but is not limited to e-mail Internet word processing electronic calendar presentation development spreadsheet database etc.; willingness to stay current and develop skills as needed with or without direct support from CSDB. A working knowledge of and the ability to effectively utilize a variety of computer software applications including web site update applications spreadsheet applications database applications Microsoft Office products and other programs as needed.
- Skilled in the use of a photocopier and other typical office equipment.
- Ability to respond effectively and positively to feedback; ability to participate effectively in a team setting and to work independently; strong interpersonal and communication skills; effective organizational skills; effective problem-solving skills.
- A courteous professional and helpful attitude in the role of CSDB representative.
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) at Completion of Basic Emergency Communication Class skill level; or applicants must be willing and able to attain proficiency at the required level within a specified period of time as demonstrated by an appropriate assessment tool and according to school policy / procedures.
