Job Description
MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN St. Basil Catholic Education Centre
This position is open to all internal and external candidates. Prior to employment successful applicants must provide supporting documents as outlined on our New Employees page.
We are looking to hire a continuous 35.0 hour per week Maintenance Technician at St. Basil Catholic Education Centre in Lethbridge. This assignment is to commence as soon as possible. This position is covered by the CUPE 1825 collective agreement. Please quote Posting #3956156.
The Individual

The Maintenance Technician supports the effective and efficient functioning of the Holy Spirit Catholic School Divisions facilities by coordinating data entry scheduling documentation and logistical support related to maintenance operations. This position plays a key role in asset management preventative maintenance planning project administration and the continuous improvement of standard operating procedures for both maintenance and caretaking. The role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong technical knowledge excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team. A class 5 drivers license with a clean driving record is required.
EDUCATION:
- Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) or Certified Technician (.) or currently in training for certification;
- WHMIS certification and working knowledge of OH&S regulations as they apply to maintenance.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum two years of technical work experience in a related field.
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
- Broad understanding of building systems (construction plumbing electrical HVAC fire protection);
- Proficient in Google Workspace or Microsoft 365.
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
- Strong scheduling troubleshooting and technical problem-solving skills;
- Ability to prioritize multiple demands meet deadlines and work with minimal supervision;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Strong relationship-building and collaboration skills;
- Professional and respectful communication with students staff administration contractors and vendors;
- Demonstrates a positive and proactive work ethic with attention to quality;
- Able to accept direction and contribute as part of a broader facilities and school team;
- Respectful and appropriate conduct in an educational environment.
