PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR

The Production Supervisor is directly responsible for overseeing and organizing staff equipment and
processes on the production floor. As a first-line supervisor of a production team the Production
Supervisors primary focus is keeping the production line operational. Production should be maximized
while safety and quality standards are maintained.

II. Typical Job Functions

Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional position-specific tasks.

  • Supervises and coordinates daily activities of production staff.
  • Develops and assigns work schedules to production staff.
  • Organizes and monitors workflow to complete established production plans using MOM software.
  • Issues material to jobs.
  • Closes out and receives jobs in SYSPRO at the end of the jobs.
  • Troubleshoots issues with equipment or machinery.
  • Assists in determining required resources to keep production running.
  • Works in partnership with HR to hire appraise reward train and coach production staff when necessary.
  • Defines and enhances current operating systems policies and procedures.
  • Evaluates and ensures current equipment products and facilities are safe operating correctlyand is up to quality standards.
  • Assists Engineering by evaluating new equipment and techniques.
  • Assists Engineering with building protos jigs and fixtures.
  • Assists QC with any quality issues found in production.
  • Works with maintenance with scheduling PMs in their department
  • Utilize Unipoint for submitting tickets for equipment/tools that need repair updateSSOPs/work instructions and completing NCs.
  • Utilize Remdoc for entering MRNs markups for protos and first production run.
  • Monitors employee efficiencies and provides feedback to employees.
  • Utilizes SYSPRO to lookup job and material information.
  • Works on time studies when jobs continuously are over/under job time.
  • Reports daily to production manager or Director of any issues in production.
  • Maintains a safe clean and organized work environment.
  • Stays up to date on professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops reviewing professional publications establishing professional networks and benchmarking state of the art practices.
  • Creates and implements standard operating procedures and ensures these procedures are adhered to.
  • Monitors quality standards of received and issued products.
  • Prepares and maintains production reports PRB board and utilizes LEAN/Continuous Improvement concepts and tools to resolve issues.
  • Conducts safety inspections and advises workers on proper safety techniques formally or informally.
  • Initiates and fosters a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
  • Informs management of areas not in compliance with state and federal laws or employer policies.
  • Provides complete supervisor checklists and timesheets in accordance with procedures and discuss any issues at daily supervisor meeting.
  • Performs routing verification studies and investigations.
  • Possesses solid understanding of equipment specific to the Powder Coat department by reading understanding and training on SSOPs.
  • Ensures and validates that employees are following work instructions through random audits.
  • Understands department specific KPIs and provides updates at weekly staff meetings as needed.
  • Utilizes company payroll system to track employee performance provides timely and thorough check-ins and yearly performance evaluations for employees.
  • Works with Human Resources on utilizing the Performance Management module in Paycom to train teach and correct undesirable behavior of employees.
  • Corrects or mitigates safety issues immediately and informs management of any issues.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

III. Ability to:

  • Communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing using appropriate English grammar and syntax.

  • Establish maintain and foster positive and effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

  • Use tact initiative prudence and independent judgement within general policy and procedural guidelines.

  • Organize work set priorities meet critical deadlines and follow-up on assignments.

  • Observe safe work methods and safety practices related to the work; use appropriate safety equipment; observe safe driving practices; wear and use proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). TFI requires all staff members to fulfill all job functions in a consistent state of alertness and work in a safe manner.

IV. Qualifications/Prerequisites

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • At least three years supervisory experience.
  • Lean manufacturing training and experience is preferred.
