We are seeking an experienced Automation Engineer Wet Chemistry Lab to join a leading global pharmaceutical company located in Cambridge MA. This is an onsite long-term contract opportunity for a motivated individual with a strong background in laboratory automation wet chemistry and programming.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for translating laboratory workflows into robust automated protocols while optimizing existing automation infrastructure. You will serve as the in-house expert for custom robotics and orchestration systems supporting pharmaceutical development initiatives.
Responsibilities:Design program and implement automated laboratory systems and protocols
Collaborate closely with scientists to translate experimental workflows into automation-compatible processes
Maintain and optimize existing automation platforms ensuring seamless lab operations
Integrate robotic systems with laboratory instruments and data systems
Act as a subject matter expert for laboratory automation and system orchestration
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to instrumentation and software integration
Drive continuous improvement and innovation in lab automation processes
Bachelors or Masters degree in Engineering (Mechanical Electrical Chemical Biomedical) Computer Science or a related technical field
Minimum 2 years of experience developing and programming automated laboratory systems
At least 1 year of hands-on experience in a wet chemistry lab
Proficiency in automation scripting or programming languages (preferred: Python C# LabVIEW)
Strong understanding of robotics instrument control and system integration
Experience working in laboratory environments and familiarity with scientific safety protocols
Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional scientific teams
Ability to design and deploy automated laboratory workflows from concept to execution
Experience with analytical measurement instruments in a lab or pharmaceutical setting
Background in small molecule process development
Knowledge of multivariate analysis chemometrics and statistics
Experience with continuous process development and scale-up
