Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW

As academics are essential drivers in our schools the focus on Minnesota State Standards and the development of aligned regional curriculum instruction and assessments will be primary functions of the Instructional Coach/Academic Interventionist. The position is responsible for supporting student achievement with special attention to Tier II and III instruction and individual or small group instruction to students who are struggling academically. This Instructional Coach/Academic Interventionist is responsible for monitoring reporting communicating student progress and performance and collaborating with general education staff. In addition the position will assist School Leadership by supporting the schools communities of practice and professional learning to ensure a standard of excellence and impact.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Academic Vision Setting Strategic Planning Scaling Implementation

    • Provides input for program development 

    • Supports the implementation of assessment tools and data management systems

    • Attends the appropriate training to improve knowledge and skills 

    • Provides staff development opportunities 

    • Uses data to provide instruction to students and to bring their skills to grade level 

    • Collaborates with teachers administration and families to help identify best practices for individual and small groups of students 

    • Collaborates with teachers and other instructional staff to support teachers in implementing best classroom instructional practices. 

    • Uses identified research-based interventions focused specifically on individual student needs

  • Coaching Cycle Management Development and Support

    • Lead the instructional coaching model for the school

    • Participates in meetings with teachers administration and families to discuss student placement and progress

    • Provides high-quality coaching to academic staff individually and in small groups

  • Strength of Teaching and Learning

    • Ensure that curricula are aligned to state and college readiness standards are vertically aligned and are made accessible to teachers allowing for efficient and effective pacing sequencing and lesson planning

    • Oversee student learning data acquisition and analysis ensuring schools have access and training to effectively utilize the data to increase and enrich student learning

    • Review assessment tools on a regular and ongoing basis and analyze performance for effectiveness in improving student achievement

    • Collaborate with other members of the school and regional leadership team to ensure high-quality implementation of the schools educational design including school culture standards assessments and instructional guidelines

    • Oversee teacher development including working collaboratively with the School Leader to provide support surrounding the instructional staff evaluation process

  • Other

    • Required to assist and report a minimum of 20 hours per school year to work events held in the evenings and/or weekends. These events include student recruitment canvassing home visits community events etc

    • Demonstrates effective written and oral communication skills

    • Performs other duties as assigned

    • Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with faculty students and parents

    • Maintains confidentiality

    • Demonstrates professional behavior

    • Participates in the arrival and dismissal of students daily with assigned tasks and responsibilities

    • Performs bus duties for the safety of students daily with assigned tasks and responsibilities

    • Monitors hallways between classroom duties to establish safety and clear expectations of student behaviors in the hallways


Qualifications :

DESIRED EXPERIENCE 

Required 

  • B.A/ B.S degree in teaching from an accredited institution or related field

  • Minnesota State certification in teaching appropriate subject areas. Applicants holding the following credentials by August 31 are welcome to apply. We will work with applicants whose license is in process.

  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written

  • Highly organized and punctual

  • Customer-focused approach

  • A high degree of flexibility

  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced environment

  • Experience with using technology in teaching and learning

  • Skill in using positive constructive disciplinary approaches

  • Familiarity with current teaching/ learning theories;

  • The commitment to driving cultural relevance diversity equity and inclusion and a sense of belonging in a homogeneous community.

Highly Preferred 

  • Experience working in historically educationally underserved communities and communities of color 

  • Licensed Grades K-8 with teaching experience and strong competency in instruction


Additional Information :

COMPENSATION

Salary: $58000 - $65000

*To establish equitable salary practices the compensation package is derived from the Regional KIPP Minnesota pay scale and benefits package which includes medical dental life long & short-term disability and retirement benefits as well as an annual salary review and revision.
