Position: Plant Accounting Manager (Senior Level)
Location: Lawton OK (On-site presence required)
Reports To: Accounting Manager - Plant Operations
Travel: Not required
Visa Sponsorship: Not supported
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Plant Accounting Manager to lead the accounting operations at a manufacturing plant in the Lawton OK area. This role is responsible for overseeing all plant-level accounting activities including monthly financial close inventory management and internal controls compliance aligned with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and company policies.
The successful candidate will collaborate closely with corporate finance teams and local plant personnel to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting and analysis. Additionally this role will contribute to developing the plant finance team supporting leadership goals and driving operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead monthly and quarterly financial reporting and special analyses at the plant level ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal policies.
- Manage the annual physical inventory process locally.
- Maintain a robust internal control environment including SOX compliance testing and remediation of any audit findings.
- Oversee the standard cost setting process and manage material cost data.
- Develop accounting team members and support succession planning efforts.
- Communicate financial results clearly to plant leadership and measure performance against objectives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance Economics or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years progressive accounting and financial analysis experience in a manufacturing or distribution plant environment.
- Proven people leadership skills.
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and SOX internal controls.
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP is preferred.
- Excellent analytical communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Skills
- Change management experience particularly in driving adoption of new processes across large teams.
- Proficiency with MS Office Hyperion or other financial systems.
- Ability to analyze complex accounting issues and assess their impact on business units.
Candidate Profile
- Candidates currently residing in or willing to relocate to the Lawton OK area (without relocation assistance).
- Experience specifically within manufacturing plants or large distribution centers is required; corporate accounting experience alone is not sufficient.
- Signing bonus may be offered for highly qualified candidates.
