Job Description

Position Title: Communications Webmaster/Videographer

Department: Communications

Reports To: Director of Communications

FLSA Status: Exempt

SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Director of Communications serves as District Webmaster and Videographer creating digital content to support Aiken County Public Schools outreach to families engagement with the public and marketing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serves as District Webmaster and District Videographer.
  • Reviews state department and other relevant requirements to ensure compliance with website accessibility standards.
  • Improves the website visitor experience by creating monitoring and updating websites to ensure fresh content visual appeal accuracy of information and accessibility of layout copy and links in order to maintain digital image and ensure ADA and WCAG 2.1 standards (or current district adopted standard of compliance).
  • Through training and support increases the capacity of ACPSD staff to produce fully and equally accessible content and information for independent use by all individuals including those with disabilities.
  • Audits and conducts automated and manual testing of websites to identify barriers to accessibility and facilitates changes to content to ensure compliance.
  • Responds to accessibility issues investigates concerns communicates appropriate resolutions and maintains comprehensive records of concerns and outcomes.
  • Evaluates accessibility of vendor products and supports Divisions with qualifying vendors for engagement with ACPSD.
  • Collaborates with vendors departments and schools to offer appropriate alternative digital content when barriers cannot be overcome including those with third-party providers.
  • Manages and maintains user lists and administers accounts and user permissions.
  • Provides timely support to schools and district departments with the district website social media and other information platforms.
  • Maintains and documents ownership of district internet domains.
  • Creates and shares guides tips and information on the website/mass communications information with stakeholders.
  • Regularly updates a style guide for all website content that maintains consistency for all print and content published.
  • Works with Director of Communications to facilitate plans and vision for the website in relation to the district and schools marketing.
  • Prepares site statistics and analytics; identifies and shares opportunities for enhanced visibility function improved search engine optimization (SEO) time on site web traffic and other relevant metrics.
  • Maintains proficiency in Apptegys Thrillshare Platform and other relevant platforms regular participation in workshops webinars and training.
  • Collaborates with Director and various stakeholders to gather ideas and develop video concepts designed to support the districts communications marketing community engagement and recruitment/retention goals.
  • Develops video project plans identifies subjects locations and seeks appropriate permissions for capturing experiences within Aiken County Public Schools highlighting its employees students programs facilities and more.
  • Conducts interviews and captures b-roll footage to enhance storytelling.
  • Attends and films events and other activities as needed.
  • Films edits and produces polished high-quality videos using professional lighting equipment and video editing software.
  • Prepares video files in various formats for websites social media presentations etc.
  • Ensures video compliance with ADA and WCAG 2.1 standards (or current district adopted standard of compliance).
  • Maintains a gallery of videos and photographs with organized footage for easy access and collaboration.
  • Ensures all videography and photography equipment is in good working order and ready for use.
  • Maintains equipment inventory and assists with equipment purchases and upgrades.
  • Keeps informed of professional practices in website development social media videography and school public relations.
  • Stays updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to enhance video production quality and efficiency.
  • Serves as part of the Communications Staff on the crisis/reunification response team.
  • Assists the Director of Communications as needed to include preparations for presentations and meetings.
  • Maintains the districts brand and messaging.
  • Maintains confidentiality in all employee dealings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

College degree with emphasis in Web Development Computer Information Technology Film and Video Production Public Relations Communications Journalism Marketing or another area of concentration. A minimum of two years of combined experience in website development media and/or photographic/videographic functions required. Training and/or experience in ADA compliance and/or website accessibility preferred. Proficiency in video production techniques and experience with video editing software preferred.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read analyze and interpret general business periodicals professional journals technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers clients customers and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and in the display and interpretation of assessment data. Ability to apply basic concepts of statistical analysis fractions percentages ratios and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to interpret and apply common sense understanding in carrying out instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form. Ability to analyze information and use logic to address work related issues and problems. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to quickly assess educator and administrative needs and provide timely feedback.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

Ability to apply knowledge and current research and theory in specific field. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with administrators and educators. Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication. Ability to organize and implement a flexible work schedule in order to meet reporting deadlines. Ability to self-monitor and manage multiple tasks while working individually and with members of a group. Ability to submit all requested reports and documentation in a timely manner and in accordance to scheduled deadlines. The position requires meeting deadlines and interacting with teachers and administrators. Some extended hours and multiple demands from several people are frequently required of the employee.

The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds such as boxes of materials. The employee will sometimes push/pull items such as furniture or boxes of materials. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Some driving is required. Frequent writing and use of technology required.

12 Months

Level 119 Pay Scale

The terms of employment detailed in this job description are based on full time employment during the school year. Conditions of employment are adjusted for part time employees or individuals who are hired for less than an entire school year.

EVALUATION

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually according to Board policy.
