Graduate Literacy Mentor Leyton Waltham Forest September 2025 Start

Are you a recent graduate with a passion for literacy and education Would you like to support young learners in developing their reading and writing skills in a vibrant and inclusive primary school

A welcoming and high-achieving primary school in Leyton Waltham Forest is looking to appoint a Graduate Literacy Mentor for a September 2025 start. This role is ideal for an aspiring teacher or educational professional seeking hands-on classroom experience while helping pupils develop confidence in their literacy abilities.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Delivering targeted reading and writing support to pupils on a 1:1 or small group basis

  • Inspiring students to enjoy reading and express themselves through writing

  • Monitoring and tracking pupils progress and feeding back to teachers

  • Helping to create a positive nurturing learning environment for all students

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Be a recent graduate ideally in English Education or a related field

  • Be passionate about literacy and committed to improving student outcomes

  • Have a proactive and compassionate approach to supporting young learners

  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Be organised and adaptable to meet students varying literacy needs

  • Experience working with children is advantageous but not essential
