About Outpatient Clinics
Corewell Health operates over 300 outpatient clinics across Michigan bringing a multitude of care options to the communities that we serve. There are over 40 different types of primary care and specialty practices which allows those who work in these clinics the opportunity to learn and explore various interests or to specialize in one area.
Scope of work
The Registered Nurse Procedural possesses advanced education in administering patient sedation and/or monitoring of patient post sedation or anesthesia. The Registered Nurse Procedural utilizes extensive patient assessment skills collaborates with all healthcare team members to ensure the most optimal patient outcome. Performs all activities at an expanded level of nursing practice executed within the context of the nursing process. Maintains education in ACLS and/or Sedation allowing them to safely care for patients that are at risk due to sedation/anesthesia and procedure. If working with Pediatric population will also obtain PALS training. If working in the Intra-op area the Registered Nurse Procedural maintains a high level of expertise in the cases they assist with. The Registered Nurse Procedural perioperative nurse is an RN who plans coordinates delivers and evaluates nursing care for patients whose protective reflexes or self-care abilities are potentially compromised during operative or other invasive procedures.
Qualifications
Required Bachelors Degree in Nursing must be obtained within 7 years for those who start in this RN role on or after January 1 2013 (SHWM)
Required Associates Degree Nursing
Successful completion of a competency-based orientation Required
2 years of relevant experience in a perioperative nursing department (SH Grand Rapids Required) Preferred
LIC-Registered Nurse (RN) - STATEMI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 90 Days required or CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 90 Days required
