Job Description

Cash Reconciliation Associate

Non-licensing required. Not a client-facing role

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform a morning certification to validate all expected internal system and external feeds were received and to ensure all accounts are in balance. Communicate system feed issues and out of balances to the leadership team and business partners as needed.
  • Complete a daily reconciliation of records in accordance with SEC IRS and FINRA regulations. Perform research identify the root cause and explain the reason for the break utilizing Vanguard systems. Manage and maintain outstanding items through to resolution while adhering to departmental measures. Exercise sound judgment when elevating issues to the leadership team and business partners. Communicate with internal business partners and vendors to determine resolution solutions as needed.
  • Manage and maintain outstanding items through to resolution while adhering to departmental peers and business partners to continually enhance the client experience.
  • Build and maintain expertise with Vanguard process systems policies procedures and demonstrates full proficiency in all brokerage and mutual fund reconciliation functions. Effectively use knowledge to problem solve with internal and external clients to determine the appropriate resolution to outstanding exceptions.
  • Partner with the leadership team to update and rewrite procedures support training efforts and to serve as a Subject Matter Expert for the department and our business partners. Develops and maintain the ability to reconcile all work types if necessary based on business needs. Adhere to standard work/workflows vocalize opportunities to improve upon it. Actively suggest enhancements to processes.
  • Maintain effective work relationships by handling peer and management interactions in a positive and professional manner. Keep leadership team informed of issues impacting the team in an effort to foster the teams engagement.
  • Demonstrate active engagement in improving the client experience by participating in feedback session and process improvement discussions. Proactively identify process trends and provides recommendations to resolve the identified trends while remaining engaged throughout the implementation of solution.
  • Demonstrate interest in the financial markets and brokerage environment inclusive of understanding Vanguard products. Participate in conversations around individual and team targets during huddle board conversations and consistently update goals in a timely fashion.
  • Participate in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate finance degree preferred or banking/business equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Minimum two years general experience and one year industry experience.
  • Reconciliation experience preferred.
    • Transaction Lifecycle Management (TLM) experience preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Aptitude for quickly learning new workflows and technologies.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated PC skills using Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Demonstrated desire to learn new things and grow professionally.
  • Embraces a culture of recognition.
